Course Overview

In Python I, students develop a strong foundation in the core principles of the Python programming language. As an accelerated course, it features a rigorous and fast-paced curriculum designed to prepare students for the essential skills expected of a modern programmer.

The concepts mastered in Python I serve as transferable skills that can be easily applied when learning additional programming languages in the future.

Prerequisites

No prior coding experience is required, but a commitment to the accelerated pace is essential.

Curriculum & Schedule

Certification & Grading

This course is graded on a rigorous scale. To pass the class, a minimum score of 75% (C) is required. Grades will not be rounded or curved, and all grades are final.

  • Certification: Grade of 75% or higher.
  • With Distinction: Grade of 87% (B+) or above.
  • High Honors: Grade of 97% (A+) or higher.
  • Automatic Admission: Students scoring 93% (A) or higher qualify for direct admission to the LCML Machine Learning with Python program (dependent on available seating, priority given to students with higher grades).

Attendance Policies

Absences

Students are permitted only one absence. Exceeding this limit will result in removal from the program.

Punctuality

Accumulating more than two tardies (>5 mins late) will result in removal from the program.
